Always wanted to commentate on football? Would you like to be able to describe every kick of the ball and bring matches to life for Derby County fans as a volunteer? If so, we want to hear from you!
Derby County and Alan March Sport are working to create a new in-stadium audio descriptive commentary team at Pride Park Stadium, as part of the club’s increased offering to blind and partially sighted supporters, and we want YOU to be involved!
Selected applicants will attend an in-person training day hosted by an experienced commentator to learn everything that will be required to become a commentator, with the best on the day selected to become Derby County commentators themselves.
This is a great opportunity to gain training and experience as a commentator. Alan March Sport Ltd runs commentary teams at Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton, Newcastle United, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City, Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Crawley Town and Wrexham. Volunteers from those teams have become part of the commentary service Alan March Sport has provided at the very highest levels of the game.
Alan March Sport has provided commentators for the finals of UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, all stages of 2020 European Championships, Women’s 2022 European Championships and every match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The training team at Alan March Sport has also recently returned from training commentators to be involved at this summer's Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Previous volunteers have used the experience gained in this role to move into full-time careers involved in sport, while others are involved simply because of their love of the game, their team and want the chance to share it with others.
Want to get involved? There are just have a few simple requirements:
* Be able to commit to around 75% of Derby County's home fixtures, including any cup games for the 2023/ 24 season
* Be able to occasionally carry a small amount of equipment (less than 8kg)
* Live within approximately 90 minutes of Pride Park Stadium.
* Be available for an all-day training session (9:30am-5:30pm) on 25th June 2023.

The closing date for applications is 11:59pm on 18th June 2023, but we reserve the right to close applications early should they be oversubscribed, so please get your application in as soon as possible.
Please note this is a voluntary position – not for RamsTV - and you will not become an employee of Derby County or Alan March Sport Ltd. All volunteers must be over the age of 16 on the date of the training day.
