Two Derby County players could feature in the latest meeting of the historic rivalry between Scotland and England this afternoon.

Ikechi Anya and Chris Martin are both in the former’s squad and look set to be involved when the Tartan Army and Three Lions meet at Hampden Park, Glasgow, this evening, kick-off: 5pm.

It’s set to be a crucial FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifying encounter – one Scotland need to win if they are to close the gap on second-place and keep their fate in their own hands as they bid to reach the tournament’s finals for the first time since 1998.

The Tartan Army are fourth after five games, whilst England are top and four points clear of Slovakia, who are second.

England ran out 3-0 winners at Wembley Stadium in the reverse fixture back in November 2016.

Anya started that fixture and looking back, the 29-year-old does not feel the scoreline truly reflected how Gordon Strachan’s men played on the night.

The wideman, who has 26 caps to his name, is looking forward to the latest encounter with Gareth Southgate’s side and is hoping home advantage will have a big role to play in the outcome of the result.

He told RamsTV: “I’ve been lucky enough to play in a few of these games before and the atmosphere is always electric.

“I felt we were a bit hard done by back in November, but maybe I am a bit biased saying that. I’ve had two games against England and lost them both, so hopefully it can change this time!

“These games are what football is about, especially with the rivalry. It’s probably not the best time for it to appear on the fixture list, but we will deal with the situation.

“England are one of the main contenders in the group so it will be difficult, but we’re at home in front of our fans. If we can keep to our game plan, I think we have a good chance of winning the game.”

A full review of how Ikechi Anya and Chris Martin fare can be found across Derby County’s digital channels later this evening.
