Gary Rowett admits there could be more business to be done at Derby County in the final week of the summer transfer window.

Clubs have until 11pm on Thursday 31st August to complete their squads until the January transfer window opens at the beginning of 2018.

Rowett has added Curtis Davies, Andre Wisdom, Tom Huddlestone and Tom Lawrence to the Rams’ ranks since the end of last season, in addition to letting four players move on to pastures new.

With a week to go until the end of the window, Rowett hasn’t ruled out more ins and outs to add to what he feels has been a window where Derby have conducted ‘good and sensible business’.

If the Derby boss is to add to his squad in the next seven days, it will be on the Rams’ terms and for a deal which represents sensible value for the club.

When asked by RamsTV if Derby expect to do more business in the window, Rowett said: “You always expect to do business but you can’t really predict things, as we have found in this window.

“I would imagine there will be one or two outs and we will also work hard to get some ins as well; but it is up to us to make the right decisions on the right signing for the right deal.

“That’s the important thing. If any deal gets too heavy because another team is desperate to add that player to their ranks instead then we don’t want to be in that position.

“We have done good business so far and we want to continue to do sensible business to improve our side or give us a different option.”

Rowett has suggested that he could move to improve the overall squad by ensuring the Rams are covered in certain areas.

However, if that is to happen, he has once again made it clear Derby won’t get involved in deals which could become ‘silly’.

He said: “It might not necessarily be someone who is going to come in and improve our side (that Derby bring in), but improve the squad and add something that we feel that we might need at some point.

“That could be as an impact (substitute) or because of an injury so we don’t have to change the style of play; we have to be mindful of that.

“There are clubs desperate to get players through the door in this division and if they are, then some will be prepared to overpay. We are not prepared to do that.

“As I said, we want to get business done sensibly and if deals become silly in our opinion then we will leave some of those deals alone.”
