Wales star Tom Lawrence believes that he will only continue to improve as he looks to build on a promising start to life at Derby County.

The forward is currently away on international duty as Chris Coleman’s side get set to face Georgia on Friday night in their penultimate 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Lawrence has played every minute of the Rams’ last five Championship games, recording two assists in the process.

The Welshman believes that regular games will help him as he aims to add his attacking qualities to Gary Rowett’s side.

Speaking to the Welsh media ahead of the qualifier with Georgia, he said: “I played a lot last year for Ipswich and now for Derby, they have welcomed me really well and I feel like I’m getting settled there now so hopefully there is more to come from me.”

Lawrence also spoke about the addition of countryman Joe Ledley to the Derby squad, and he had only good things to say about his fellow midfielder as he works his way back to full fitness.

He added: “It’s good to see him in the team [at Derby] as well and I’m sure he’ll be a good member of the squad.

“If you saw the previous two games, it’s clear that he’s in great shape and he’s played really well, so hopefully he can carry on with that form if he plays [against Georgia].”

Lawrence is likely to be given the difficult task of replacing Gareth Bale in the Wales starting eleven after the Real Madrid superstar was ruled out with a calf strain, but the 23-year-old isn’t fazed by the challenge.

He said: “I’m a different player to Gareth Bale and whether it’s me or any other player, we’re going to put in as much effort as we can.

“I’ve gained the trust of the manager and hopefully I’ve repaid him with the performances in the last two games.

“I’ve always felt a part of the team, as soon as you get here the senior players welcome you with open arms.”
