Midfielder Mason Mount has been called up to the England senior squad for the first time for their upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Spain.

The 19-year-old is the first Derby County player to receive England recognition since goalkeeper Frank Fielding was called up in 2010.

Mount has been in exceptional form for the Rams this season and has scored five goals in 14 appearances. The promising youngster, who has also contributed one assist, has earned plaudits from fellow players, managers and the media for his fine form this campaign.

He further cemented his growing reputation as he scored and assisted on his England Under-21 debut last month.

Trailing 1-0 against Latvia, the midfielder provided an assist for Tammy Abraham to equalise before he netted the winner in the final 20 minutes to turn the game on its head.

His form made Gareth Southgate take note and the England boss was in the stands to watch the midfielder against Blackburn Rovers last month.

Mount will be part of Southgate’s squad who face Croatia on Friday 12th October and Spain on Monday 15th October.
