Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, dcfc.co.uk is delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Derby County’s illustrious history.

The Celebrations Get Underway As Derby Return To The Big Time

There will have been a few sore heads in Derby 51 years ago today, as yesterday marked the anniversary of Derby County getting their hands on some silverware.

Pictured here is Dave Mackay getting the party started in the Derby dressing room after they had rounded off their 1968/69 Second Division season as Champions.

A 5-0 trouncing of Bristol City rounded off the season with nine consecutive wins as Brian Clough’s side secured promotion in emphatic style.

As you can see, there are plenty of smiles in the dressing room after the Rams enjoyed a memorable season on the pitch – with the experienced Mackay leading the way.
