Gary Rowett says he is still keen to add to his Derby County squad before the transfer window shuts next month.

Derby have been active in the transfer market so far this summer both from an inward and outward bound perspective.

Curtis Davies, Andre Wisdom and Tom Huddlestone have been brought in while Abdoul Camara, Will Hughes, Tom Ince and Cyrus Christie have moved on.

In addition to those transfer moves Rowett has welcomed Chris Martin, Andreas Weimann and Jamie Hanson back into the fold following spells out on loan last term, in addition to Craig Forsyth’s comeback from a long-term injury.

Rowett is, however, keen to still to bring in some more fresh faces if he can before the end of August and says discussions are ongoing.

As ever, he accepts that he may have to be patient to ensure Derby do good business in the market.

He told RamsTV: “We have freshened the squad up with a few new signings whilst we also have the loan players coming back and those returning from injury.

“In terms of the players moving in and out, especially at this level, it can be quite complicated as we’ve seen with some deals this summer.

“We have put some very good and competitive offers out there for players and it is very difficult to get them over the line, unless you overpay which we don’t want to do.

“We want to get good value and good business. It doesn’t mean we are not prepared to pay good money or target excellent players, because we certainly are.”

He added: “I think there’s still plenty of movement left but, of course, as a manager you want it ideally done before the start of the season – but the reality of it is you don’t quite get that.”

Rowett admits he wants to bring in the right players and not make signings for the sake of it.

He wants whoever walks through the door to improve his side and not simply add to the numbers.

“We’ll keep working and will work incredibly hard to bring players in,” he said.

“They have to be the right players to come in and improve us; there’s no point just getting players in and doing poor business.

“If we have to wait for that I am prepared to do that. That’s the market and game that we are in.”
