Derby County is pleased to welcome Drinkaware as a club partner for the 2017/18 season.

Drinkaware has taken up the option to become a preferred partner for the entire campaign.

As part of the partnership agreement the charity will promote their 'Have a Little Less Feel a Lot Better' campaign digitally to supporters on a matchday. The campaign encourages midlife men to reduce their routine home drinking, by showing them how small reductions in alcohol intake can make a big difference to their health.

They will, in addition, also be working closely with the Derby County Community Trust and will oversee the sponsorship of a number of their schemes, including their popular Walking Football and Active Choices programmes.

In January 2018, for Derby County’s home fixture against Bristol City, Drinkaware will also hold a number of initiatives around Pride Park Stadium to raise awareness of the benefits of having a little less alcohol in interesting and enjoyable way amongst supporters.

The Drinkaware Trust is an independent UK-wide alcohol education charity and aims to reduce alcohol-related harm by helping people make better choices about their drinking by providing impartial, evidence-based information, advice and practical resources and by working collaboratively with partners.

Drinkaware is funded largely by voluntary and unrestricted donations from UK alcohol producers, on-trade, off-trade and wholesalers.

Derby County’s Chief Financial Officer Stephen Pearce - who is also a trustee of the Community Trust - said: “We are pleased to welcome Drinkaware to Derby County as a preferred partner for the 2017/18 season.

“We’re looking forward to working with them over the course of the next 12 months and especially alongside the Community Trust with the sponsorship of a number of their programmes.”

He added: “Drinkaware has a big part to play up and down the country and we’re pleased they feel that working with Derby County can help support their mission to encourage people to make better choices about their drinking.”

Rommel Moseley, Director of Business Development & Partnerships at Drinkaware, said: "We are delighted Drinkaware is a preferred partner of Derby County Football Club for the 2017/18 season and we look forward to closely working together over the next year.

"Derby County is an integral part of the Derbyshire community and their Community Trust programme is well recognised for supporting people who are affected by alcohol and its harms.

"We are committed to finding new and innovative ways to reduce the harms caused by alcohol and working in partnership with Derby County provides us a new opportunity to work directly with the community to help people make better choices about their drinking.”
