Derby County’s Max Lowe is targeting game time with Shrewsbury Town to help aid his development as a player.

The 20-year-old left-back last week joined the Sky Bet League 1 promotion chasers on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Academy graduate made his first-team bow for the Rams at the beginning of last season and racked up 12 appearances in total over the course of the campaign.

A niggling abdominal problem unfortunately sidelined him for the closing months of last term and the start of the current campaign and hampered his progress.

Lowe returned to action in the Autumn for Derby’s Under-23s and will now continue his development with Paul Hurst’s side over the coming months, before returning to Pride Park Stadium in the summer.

Lowe made his debut for Shrewsbury last Sunday as he came off the bench in their 0-0 draw at home to Premier League side West Ham United in the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Speaking to Shrewsbury’s official website, Lowe said: “I had 12 games with Derby last season and did relatively well, I would like to think, so hopefully I can show my experience here as well.

“The Championship is a hard league but I took it game by game and with confidence my performances hopefully will become better.

“I’m just going to take it week by week here with Shrewsbury and get to know the gaffer a bit more and the players.

“Hopefully I can get more games under my belt and see where it takes me.”

Lowe could feature in Shrewsbury’s Checkatrade Trophy clash at home to Blackpool on Wednesday, ahead of potentially making his league bow in their top-of-the-table clash at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
