Gary Rowett was disappointed with the goals that his side conceded as Derby County drew 2-2 with Leeds United on Wednesday night.
Kasey Palmer struck deep into stoppage time to salvage what could turn out to be a crucial point, but Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Ezgjan Alioski twice put the visitors in front on the counter-attack.
Derby controlled the game for large periods and Rowett was not pleased with the way that the goals came for Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
He told RamsTV: “If you look at the statistics, we’ve created so many chances, we had far more possession and the first half was as dominant as we’ve been in a game this season.
“Some of our attacking play was really incisive, and they created literally nothing, so for us to switch off in the way that we did [for the first goal] was really poor.
“It’s very unlike us, it was uncharacteristic.
“We ended up conceding another really poor goal, to have a free-kick and have so many players in the box when there was no need to be in those positions.
“The fortune isn’t quite going for us at the moment, we’re conceding goals when we’ve been dominant, which maybe we got away with ourselves earlier in the season.”
Andreas Weimann got Derby back on level terms on the stroke of half-time, and Pride Park Stadium erupted when Palmer poked home in the dying moments.
The Rams had numerous other chances and Rowett called on his side to ease the burden placed on the 17-goal Sky Bet Championship top scorer Matej Vydra as they look to get back on form after a third game without a win.
He said: “We need some of those around Vyds to step up and be more clinical because we’re not scoring goals when we need to.
“Every game that we don’t win feels like a defeat, so we have to roll our sleeves up and go to Reading, and if we play as well as we did in the first half.
“We haven’t turned enough of these draws into wins, we’ve lost one game in 14 but it feels like we’ve been on a losing run.
“We haven’t lost massive ground and it will still come down to whether we can win enough games in this last period to get to where we want to be.”
