Shilton In Fine Form As Derby Play Out Draw With QPR
Pictured here is former Derby County goalkeeper Peter Shilton in action during the 1990/91 season in a 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers at the Baseball Ground.
Shilton made 211 appearances for Derby between the summer of 1987 and March 1992, during which time he was a regular for both club and country.
Capped 125 times at international level, Shilton joined the Rams from Southampton ahead of the 1987/88 campaign under Arthur Cox’s management.
He represented Derby, alongside Mark Wright, in the England squad at the 1990 World Cup in Italy and captained the team against both Egypt and Italy.
Shilton left the Rams at the age of 42, following the side’s relegation from the First Division, to take over as Player-Manager at Plymouth Argyle.
The 70-year-old currently holds the record for playing more games for the England men's national football team than anyone else, earning 125 caps, and holds the all-time record for the most competitive appearances in world football – 1,390.
