Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, dcfc.co.uk is delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Derby County’s illustrious history.

Every day for the foreseeable future, we’ll provide you an image for supporters to enjoy and reminisce.

Rams Move To Land Hinton

Pictured here is Alan Hinton officially joining Derby County from local rivals Nottingham Forest in September 1967 for a fee of £30,000.

He is pictured putting pen-to-paper alongside manager Brian Clough and his trusted assistant Peter Taylor.

Hinton made in excess of 300 appearances for Derby between 1967 and 1975, during which time Derby won the First Division twice under first Clough and then Dave Mackay.

He spent eight seasons with the Rams, which coincided with the golden period in the club's history as they also won the Second Division title, the Watney Cup and the Charity Shield.

A shrewd signing by Clough, the winger went on to become a huge favourite at the Baseball Ground in the Rams’ glory years and he racked up over 60 goals.

Hinton, who started his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, was also capped by England on three occasions during his playing days.
