Jason Knight was left delighted by Derby County’s 2-1 superb comeback win against Peterborough United.

The Rams recorded a remarkable late turnaround to claim all three points at Pride Park Stadium thanks to goals from the Republic of Ireland international and then David McGoldrick – both netting their first strikes of the campaign.

It looked as though Derby would be left with nothing to show for a dominant display when Posh substitute Josh Knight put the ten-man visitors in front with half-an-hour remaining, but a defiant show of character saw the Rams flip the game on its head.

The turnaround meant Derby secured a third consecutive Sky Bet League One win on home turf to begin the season - their best start at home in 25 years.

After the final whistle, Knight joined RamsTV to discuss his goal, David McGoldrick’s influence and more.

On the late comeback…

Once again we had a lot of chances that we need to start scoring to kill teams off but most importantly we got the three points in the end. It’s great to get the win and to keep the unbeaten run going. We found it difficult to deal with when they beat us in similar fashion last season, thankfully we’ve gone the other way and done it to them. That’s the sign of a good group – we didn’t play our best but we ground a result out against a good Peterborough side.

On McGoldrick’s late winner…

Last minute winners are great no matter what, but that felt extra special. My goal was great for me but with the way the game unfolded, us in control and giving a silly goal away, it’s great to win the game and that’s all that matters. He offers a great level of quality. He’s a great player to bring off the bench and he’s coming through with his fitness now, which you can see in training because he looks really sharp and today got the winner. He’s a great lad to have around the place and his career speaks for itself.

On his goal and battle with Jonson Clarke-Harris…

He’s a big striker and that’s something you have to deal with at this level. It was a good old tussle and we both got the better of some duels. It was a good battle and thankfully I came out on top. It’s been a while since I scored and that’s something I’ve been trying to add to my game. I could’ve done better with a couple of headers recently, so to score a header from a great corner from Conor Hourihane was a great feeling.

On the home record…

It’s great to get another win but we need to keep it going, keep raising our standards and avoid complacency. That’s what the gaffer has been driving into us. We know we could’ve performed better but we need to keep raising it and getting results like today.

On the relentless schedule…

We have to get ourselves back down to earth before a tough game on Tuesday against Grimsby in the Papa Johns Trophy. We’ll have Sunday off to rest and recover and then it’s back to work on Monday to get another good result at home. Momentum and confidence are everything – we’ve seen that in football before – and I think it’s important that we keep it going throughout the season.
