Derby County defender Eiran Cashin got his hands on the Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season Award at the End of Season Awards Night on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old centre-back has been a near ever-present in the heart of the Rams' defence this season and was a clear winner for the honour after a fan vote.
Speaking to RamsTV after picking up his trophy, Academy graduate Cashin says it's an 'honour' to land the award.
On his Young Player of the Season award...
It's been one hell of a season. I've really enjoyed it to be honest. There's been lots of ups and downs and there's still a lot of learning to do on my behalf but it's been a really enjoyable season and I would like to say thanks to everyone who voted.
On the fans...
I'm honoured. There have been a lot of good young players in the team this season like Birdy, Knighty, Sibs, Haydon and Dobs. They've all played their part and they've all done really well so to be picked by the fans is an honour.
On coming back from what he thought was a poor pre-season...
I didn't have a great pre-season, I felt like I was a bit off it. The main reason for the improvement though is I think speaking to people and getting advice. I remember speaking to Jake Buxton at the time and he told me when I got my opportunity I had to take it and I think I did do that and I haven't really looked back since. If we can get the job done next week and get promotion through the play-offs it will be one hell of a season.
On his standout moment of the season...
If we can get in the play-offs that would be a dream come true. I've been at this club for over 10 years so to get promoted and get us back to where we belong would be the pinnacle.
